Teen Volunteering
Teen Volunteering
Pennsville Public Library invites students, 6th through 12th grade, to join the Teen Volunteers. The original Teen group began in 2005 with sixteen volunteers. They helped organize fundraisers which provided the Children’s Room with a colorful floor rug, tot-size chairs for the Story Time programs, and purchased titles for the young adult collection.
As a volunteer you bring time, talent, and commitment as well as your cultural reflections, educational needs and personal interests.
There are a number of opportunities available:
Adopt-a-shelf
Help to maintain shelf order, alphabetically and numerically. Once trained, volunteers can come in at their convenience during open hours.
Shelving
Help return library materials to their proper place in the collection
Summer Reading Program
Each year a themed program is held for children, 11 and under. Teens assist the Adult Volunteers with registration, craft preparations, story-telling.
Special Programs and Events
Each month the library presents different programs. Teens can support the events by co-hosting with the program coordinators such as greeting guests, serving refreshments, and completing other specialty tasks.
FLEA MARKET/BOOK SALE
Twice a year the Friends of the Pennsville Public Library hold the popular Flea Market (Spring and Fall). Teens can help in a variety of ways from assisting with set-up or maintaining their own fundraising table.
Orientation will be held for Teens who join, training them on customer service, appropriate behavior and dress, and attendance requirements. Teens will be asked to complete a Volunteer Application Form with parental signature. Forms will be available at the Main Desk.
If you would like to volunteer, please visit the library and ask for the registration papers.
